Jorge Luis Álvarez

Bachelor of Performing Arts (BA) by the Art Superior Institute (Havana, Cuba). He made his debut as a film actor with the starring role of A Girlfriend for David (Orlando Rojas), one of Cuba's biggest public hits. Along with prestigious actors like Hanna Schygulla, CharoLópez, Fernando Guillén, Gian Maria Volonté, Ana Belén and Daisy Granados work in the film Tirano Banderas and the miniseries,I rent to dream. Wet feet, dry feet, by Cuban-American Carlos Gutiérrez, Transparent Woman (episode Laura), by Ana Rodríguez, and Stolen Verses, by Orlando Rojas, complete the list of their film stars.

During his theatrical development in Cuba he was a member of the groups Rita Montaner and La Ventana. He has played more than 20 theatrical productions in Cuba, Spain (where he moved in 1993) and in the United States (where he has been living since 1995).

Since 1996 he has been actively involved in cultural organizations and non-profit cultural and artistic projects, such as the Rosario Suárez Ballet; from 2008 to 2010 in TeatroAvante, which he joined to give life to Calixto de La Celestina and participated in other productions such as Yerma and Airefrio; and currently, he isfounder and active member of El IngenioTeatro where he played in Looking for a DJ, A Streetcar Named Desire, Blood Wedding, The Hamlet Case and Heart in the Wind. Also, in this last cultural project is member of the organizing committee of Casandra: International Festival of Theater Dedicated to Women of Miami.

He is currently working on a resettlement program for Cuban and Haitian immigrants for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, for 15 years.
